Hospital Tour
Last night we went on a tour of St Thomas's hospital where the bump will become a baby. Now we know where to get in to the building at 3am and also that the labour suite is a jolly good place to view the New Year fireworks from - so we'll know to plan things better if there's another time!
The rooms are on the 7th floor with a fairly clear two-tier system - if you are a wimp like me who will probably need an epidural at the first sign of discomfort, you must make do with a boring view, however if you are hard-as-nails and only use gas and air, you get a room with a great view of the Houses of Parliament and a sofa bed for your partner to snooze on!! Oh well I guess there have got to be some compensations.
We also got to see round the 'Garden Room' - the facility which sold me on the hospital in the first place - I do love a good gimmick! According to the hospital website, it is designed 'to provide a quiet space to relax in before the final stages of labour begin. It also means that any pregnant women using the room are able to give each other help and encouragement'. Goodness, the mind boggles.
