Waiting...
Everything is ready for Baby...but Baby's not ready for us! One week overdue today and not showing any signs of being ready to come out. Vaca the Cow is keeping the moses basket ready for whenever Baby decides to take the plunge.

The Fear Factor
Today I went to my pregnancy yoga class. I've been doing this for a while and generally have really enjoyed it. This is just as well, because the original motive for going was to make some friends, which I have signally failed to do!! I think maybe the other girls can tell I'm not a genuine hippy. Perhaps I need to buy some hand woven hemp yoga pants.
Anyway, it's usually very Womaaan together and empowering. This morning was to be all about managing fear. Great, I thought - how positive and uplifting. Not so!!
After the usual bending and stretching we had to write down our fears about giving birth and then read them out. 'Good grief,' said J when I told him, 'that must have given everyone a whole load of new things to worry about that they hadn't even thought of!'. Too right! There were so many fears that we didn't even GET to mine - the class ran out of time after the first four people so my fears are still unmanaged and written down on a scrap of paper in my tracksuit bottoms!
Luckily the advice to all who did read out their fears was pretty similar so I'm sure it can help me too. It was to take all the drugs the hospital can give you. Just joking!!! It's yoga class remember - drugs are universally scorned and we must all hire aromatherapist doulas to help us through the birth. When I told J he said 'I will be your aromatherapist doula. I am very empathetic towards aromas'. So that's ok then.

Hospital Tour
Last night we went on a tour of St Thomas's hospital where the bump will become a baby. Now we know where to get in to the building at 3am and also that the labour suite is a jolly good place to view the New Year fireworks from - so we'll know to plan things better if there's another time!
The rooms are on the 7th floor with a fairly clear two-tier system - if you are a wimp like me who will probably need an epidural at the first sign of discomfort, you must make do with a boring view, however if you are hard-as-nails and only use gas and air, you get a room with a great view of the Houses of Parliament and a sofa bed for your partner to snooze on!! Oh well I guess there have got to be some compensations.
We also got to see round the 'Garden Room' - the facility which sold me on the hospital in the first place - I do love a good gimmick! According to the hospital website, it is designed 'to provide a quiet space to relax in before the final stages of labour begin. It also means that any pregnant women using the room are able to give each other help and encouragement'. Goodness, the mind boggles.
